I do tech for a play at my school. I am also the only female tech working on the show. One of my duties is to help take out the set pieces at the beginning of rehearsal and put them back at the end. Every time, without fail, there is at least one man (often an actor) who says “that’s too much for a girl to be carrying!” and offers to help me.

wow this really speaks2me. whenever i have to take down sound equipment after a show, some of the men tech workers will bend over backwards not to allow me to carry something “heavy” and when i pick up something heavy anyway because it’s really not the big of deal they’re all: “oh you don’t have to carry that if it’s too difficult” like no seriously dude it’s not a problem. it’s not even that heavy and i’m literally already carrying it with no problem. stop doing backflips everything’s going to be okay.
